Log Cabins For Gardens Scotland

Log cabins are very popular, and they often give us ideas of getting away from it all. A log cabin looks luxurious and feels like a space where you can escape and relax. It is entirely up to you what you want to use it for a Log Cabin is multi-functional and it can be changed in its use whenever you feel like it. The log cabin will give you more space, like an extra room added to your home, and they are very popular.

It can be turned into just about anything you fancy from a leisure relaxing place to a home office, a writers retreat a reading room or somewhere to spend time relaxing over the summer months with outdoor bbq’s and family meals. You can choose from a variety of styles and have doors that open out the whole length of the cabin. Your choice will depend on the space that you have available to build and don’t forget that you cannot use more than 50% of that space in your garden area. When you do choose a site you must think about sunlight and the direction that the log cabin will face.

You also may want to think about insulation, as this will ensure that it will stay warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.

Types of Log Cabins

You can choose from a wide range of cabins and customise it as you wish. You may wish to think and consider the size of your log cabin? Also we have lots of variety in our range of log cabins made from premium soft wood materials. All tastes are catered for and it’s really down to what you think you would like and affordability. You could think about a log cabin shed which would be good for storage and a bit roomier than your traditional garden shed.
If it is a Post and beam log cabin this is a bit larger and can consist of one or two floors with flexible open plan space – with posts supporting huge beams and ridges ensure our post and beam log homes will last a lifetime.

Log Cabins Maintenance

Wood treatment – decide what you would like to do about treatment, you can do it yourself and we will recommend what to use. Taking care of your structure is essential in ensuring its longevity. This could be oil-based, water-based, or solvent and spirit-based. Treating the timber can also help protect against pests and rot. Solvent and spirit-based treatments are some of the more effective methods of treatment. They will only need retouching every three years.

Floor options – offering tongue and groove floors.

Thickness of the logs – you need to decide is it a shed, a summer house for occasional use. The thicker the log the more thermal capacity for all year round use.

Roof options – there are choices that you can make that will complement your garden with the traditional apex roof structure or a more modern flat roof style with opening double doors.

Windows and glazing which type and how many widows and sizes, choice of double glazing. Thickness of cladding – the thicker it is the better insulation and with tongue and groove cladding and Timber Frame – come in a variety of thickness and will be tightly sealed and weatherproof. Post and beams – with posts supporting huge beams and ridges ensure our post and beam log homes will last a lifetime.

Garden Office Log Cabins

Garden log cabins are made from timber wood, providing a more natural rustic look. They almost always have a pitched roof with beams and provide fantastic insulation and soundproof benefits especially if you have double or triple glazing installed.

They are ideal for use as a garden office space, however, generally will cost more.

Our log cabin builders can build almost any type of outdoor garden log cabin for use as a luxury garden office, business, living space or any other ideas that you may have.
